PU gets a grant to Establish Eco-Clubs

Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) has sanctioned an amount of Rs.12.10 lakhs to Panjab University for setting up of Eco-Clubs in Panjab University and its 2 Regional Centers&117 affiliated colleges under the Environment Education Program of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) on a proposal submitted by the Northern Region S & T Cluster (PI-RAHI).

Chandigarh, February 28, 2024: Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) has sanctioned an amount of Rs.12.10 lakhs to Panjab University for setting up of Eco-Clubs in Panjab University and its 2 Regional Centers&117 affiliated colleges under the Environment Education Program of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) on a proposal submitted by the Northern Region S & T Cluster (PI-RAHI). 

Under the Program,Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) Skills, Hands-On-Capacity building workshops and demonstrations, campaigns, exhibitions and competitions would be organized to impart knowledge skills related to Waste Management, Water Conservation, Curbing Single Use Plastic, Energy & Water Auditing and Life Skills such as Disaster management, wildlife photography, construction of bird shelters, etc. In addition, Nature Camps would also be organized. The establishment of the Eco-clubs is expected to raise awareness among more than 15,000 students and 1000 teachers across Panjab University and its affiliated colleges, fostering a culture of environment stewardship and sustainable living. The program would be conducted through the NSS of Panjab University with Dr. Praveen Goyalas the Coordinator.Prof. RajatSandhir, Principal Investigator of the Northern Region S & T Cluster (PI-RAHI) is the Chief Coordinator of the Program. Prof. RenuVig expressed her happiness that Panjab University has been selected as part of thisimportant initiative of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change.
