Chandigarh: Dr. Deepak B. Salunke, Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Coordinator, National Interdisciplinary Centre of Vaccine, Immunotherapeutics and Antimicrobials was invited to serve as a member of the American Chemical Society’s Journal of Medicinal Chemistry (J. Med. Chem.) Early Career Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) for a three-year term.

J. Med. Chem.is the highest cited medicinal chemistry journal dedicated to the design, synthesis, and evaluation of molecular mechanisms of action of biologically active molecules.JMC has its highest impact factor ever, 7.446 with 2020 citations reached 85,946. JMC is also ranked 1/70 for chemistry, medicial.

As a member of EAB, Dr. Salunke’s role will be to advocatethe journal at the international meetings to recruit high-quality submissions in the emerging areas of medicinal chemistry, provide advice on policy issues, including serving on subcommittees, to serve as manuscript reviewer, to attend annual EAB meeting and overall promote the journal at different platforms.

Dr. Salunke has published over 60 research articles and recently established a National Interdisciplinary Centre of Vaccine, Immunotherapeutics and Antimicrobials at Panjab University. Since March 2020, his research group has published 28 research articles and total 41 publications from Panjab University. Key finding include the Role of toll-like receptor 7/8 pathways in regulation of interferon response and inflammatory mediators during SARS-CoV2 infection published in Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy 2021, role of Toll-like receptor-7/8 agonist in Leishmania amazonensis published in the Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology 2021, Structural evolution of toll-like receptor 7/8 agonists from imidazoquinolines to imidazoles published in RSC Medicinal Chemisty 2021, Proficiency of nanostructured lipid carriers for the formulation of amphiphilic bile acid oligomers published in Colloids and Surfaces A, application of TLR7 agonist as an effective influenza vaccine adjuvant published in Human Vaccines 2020 (being explored as an adjuvant for COVID19 vaccines), a perspective on TLR2 agonistic small molecules published in Journal of Medicinal Chemistry 2021, Bile acid oligomers and their combination with antibiotics to combat bacterial infections published in Journal of medicinal chemistry 2018.
