PU Dept conducted Webinar on “Five habits of successful librarians”

Chandigarh, April 28, 2022: The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh, successfully organised webinar today (i.e., April 28th, 2022) through online mode. Dr. Shiv Kumar, Chairperson of the department initiated the webinar welcoming resource person and participants. Prof. Preeti Mahajan, Coordinator of today’s webinar introduced the Resource Person and theme of the webinar.  Prof. Rajendra M. Kumbhar, Resource Person from Department of Library and Information Science, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune delivered the talk on “Five habits of successful librarians”. Prof. Kumbhar highlighted that in the changing scenario of information overload and owing to the technological changes, the role of library professionals has transformed significantly. He emphasized on the adoption of five core habits by library professionals to become a successful librarian. Understanding the readers, recommending information sources, promoting the reading culture and literature search along with becoming experts or master of information resources and services are the prime skills required by library professionals in order to sustain in this competitive world, he said. He mentioned librarians “Professors of information sources/books”. Today’s webinar was attended by 100 participants including students sitting in the classroom as well as many academicians from all over the country. Prof. Rupak Chakravarty, Co-coordinator of today’s webinar presented vote of thanks.
