PU CET (PG) Second Phase Conducted; 2,909 Candidates Appear for 15 Postgraduate Courses

Chandigarh, June 20, 2026: As many as 2,909 candidates from different parts of the country appeared in the second phase of Panjab University (PU)'s Combined Entrance Test (CET) (PG) 2026 for admission to 15 postgraduate courses at PU.
Eight centres, including five in Chandigarh and one each at Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Sri Muktsar Sahib, were set up to conduct the entrance examination on Saturday.
PU Controller of Examinations, Prof Jagat Bhushan informed that 91.39 per cent students appeared in various entrance examinations today. Out of 3,183 registered candidates, 2,909 appeared while 274 remained absent. To ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examination, flying squad and observers were sent to every centre for routine checking and smooth conduct of the test. Jammers were also used to check the use of mobile phones and other Wi-Fi-enabled devices during the examination to prevent cheating. The test was conducted satisfactorily and no untoward incident was reported from any of the examination centres.
M.Sc. (2Yr) Stem Cell & Tissue Engineering recorded the highest attendance among the major courses at 95.65 per cent, with 66 out of 69 candidates appearing. MCA, which had the highest number of registered candidates at 1,158, recorded an attendance of 93.78 per cent with 1,086 candidates appearing. M.Sc. Statistics registered 92.98 per cent attendance with 53 out of 57 candidates present, followed by M.Sc. (HS/2Yr) Botany at 93.54 per cent with 246 out of 263 candidates appearing and M.Sc. (2Yr) Forensic Science at 93.18 per cent with 205 out of 220 candidates present.
M.A. (Economics) recorded an attendance of 91.64 per cent with 285 out of 311 candidates appearing. M.Sc. (2Yr) Human Genomics saw 53 out of 58 candidates present, registering 91.38 per cent attendance, while M.Sc. (HS/2Yr) Biotechnology recorded 91.28 per cent attendance with 293 out of 321 candidates appearing. M.Sc. (HS) Physics/Medical Physics/Specialisation in Electronics registered 90.72 per cent attendance with 215 out of 237 candidates present.
M.A. History recorded 86.90 per cent attendance with 199 out of 229 candidates appearing, followed by Master of Social Work at 85.51 per cent with 59 out of 69 candidates present and Masters in Disaster Management at 84.78 per cent with 39 out of 46 candidates appearing. M.Sc. (HS) Biochemistry registered 83.02 per cent attendance with 44 out of 53 candidates present.
M.Com. (Business Innovation) recorded 77.78 per cent attendance, while MBA for Executives registered 67.86 per cent attendance.
