PSCST and IPCA raises awareness on plastic waste management through “Mission Life” Program in four schools

The Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA), in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST), successfully organized an insightful awareness program titled “Mission Life and the Role of School Children in the Management of Plastic Waste” . The event took place at four schools of Government High School, Khandebad, Government High School, Kotra, GHS, Alisher, GSSSS, Pokhra Kalan in District Sangrur, Punjab.

Chandigarh/ Sangrur, February 29, 2024: The Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA), in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST), successfully organized an insightful awareness program titled “Mission Life and the Role of School Children in the Management of Plastic Waste” . The event took place at four schools of Government High School, Khandebad, Government High School, Kotra, GHS, Alisher, GSSSS, Pokhra Kalan in District Sangrur, Punjab.


Attended by over 500 enthusiastic school children and dedicated teachers, the program aimed to shed light on crucial aspects of waste management, source segregation, and the cessation of Single-Use Plastics (SUPs) through the lens of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment).


Dr. Reena Chadha, General Manager of IPCA, delivered practical solutions to waste management challenges, inspiring the audience with actionable strategies. The event garnered support and funding from the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST) and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEF & CC) under Mission LiFE.

Manjeet Singh, Co-ordinator, Green Sainik Campaign, Punjab, Rakesh Mittal, Incharge, GHS Alisher, Rajan Gupta Science Faculty, GHS Kotra Lehal and Dharamveer, Incharge GSSS Bakhora Kalan, Sangrur have  lented their invaluable support to the cause.  


The program featured a dynamic blend of lectures, interactive Q&A sessions, engaging games, hands-on practical activities, uplifting songs, captivating dances, enlightening movies, and various other interactive elements.


Dr. K.S. Bath, Joint Director, PSCST, stated that these initiatives are very significant to train our school children as brand ambassadors of the environment and Mission LiFE. In continuation of its commitment to environmental education, IPCA is organizing many similar awareness programs in educational institutions across Rupnagar, SBS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Sangrur, fostering a culture of sustainability and responsible waste management among the youth.
