Chandigarh, April 1, 2023: Professor Sheena Pall, Professor of History and Coordinator Dr B.R. Ambedkar Centre, Panjab University delivered the Valedictory Address for the seven day workshop titled ‘Research Methodology and Research Ethics in Social Sciences’, organised by the Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. This workshop was sponsored by the Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi.

Professor Sheena Pall underscored the need for such programmes as training in Research Methodology in Social Sciences play a key role in improving quality of research by imparting necessary research skills, knowledge and methodological understanding. According to Professor Pall, research methodology is ever evolving as one has to compete with the best in the present era of globalization. As all social sciences share the common objective of understanding and mastering human environment, there is a need of adopting an interdisciplinary approach that would result in inclusion of additional concepts, techniques, approaches and perspectives in research. This would provide a wholistic understanding, adding substantially to knowledge. Additionally, the speaker dwelt upon the importance of writing skills for researchers in Social Sciences.
