Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi honoured by IMA on International Women’s Day for exemplary contribution to Women Empowerment 

Jalandhar, March 8, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi was honoured by Indian Medical Association during an award ceremony on International Women’s Day for pioneering new initiatives in women education and empowerment. She was lauded for her exemplary leadership in expanding the canvas of Gender equality in Higher education & for initiating projects for safe environment in higher education for women. It is worth a mention here that Prof. Atima’s vision, commitment and dedication has resulted in making KMV the first and only Women College of Punjab to be awarded Autonomous status and also the Heritage status.

Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi is a dynamic academician with a wide, progressive vision and extensive experience of 44 years in teaching and administration in India and abroad. Passionate and deeply devoted to the cause of women empowerment through education and skill development, Dr. Sharma has been involved with community services, specially with war widows, Army families and developmental work in remote areas of India. She has empowered more than 4000 women of underprivileged sections of society in the past few years by skilling and mentoring them under Women Empowerment Cell of KMV. Her awards and honours make a tally, both at national and international levels, including Best Researcher Award in an International Conference at Harvard University, USA. KMV management, faculty and students congratulated Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi on this remarkable achievement.
