Hyderabad, May 18, 2026: Priyanka Chigurupati, Executive Director of Granules India, made her debut at the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, marking a notable moment for a new generation of Indian leaders increasingly shaping conversations across business, culture, fashion, and global influence.
Her appearance at Cannes reflected a larger cultural shift where entrepreneurs and business leaders are becoming part of international conversations that extend well beyond traditional industries. Today, platforms like Cannes have evolved into spaces where influence across business, creativity, culture, and global dialogue increasingly intersect.
For her red-carpet appearance, Priyanka wore a custom sculpted brown saree by Ekaya Banaras, paired with bespoke jewellery by Kavya Potluri. Rooted in Indian craftsmanship yet interpreted through a contemporary lens, the ensemble presented a modern expression of Indian heritage on one of the world’s most visible cultural stages.
At the centre of the look was a reinterpretation of the traditional ghoonghat. Once associated with concealment, it was reimagined to frame and celebrate the wearer instead, symbolising how modern Indian women are reclaiming and reshaping tradition on their own terms.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the look, Priyanka Chigurupati said, “My look is a tribute to the modern Indian woman, deeply rooted in tradition, yet unafraid to reinterpret it on her own terms. We reimagined the traditional ‘ghoongat,’ once used to conceal a woman’s face, by pushing it back to frame and celebrate her instead, symbolising how women today are redefining tradition in their own ways. The jewellery carries the same spirit: a modern take on classic Indian gold that feels just as effortless with denim as it does with a saree. For me, true luxury is where heritage and modernity coexist naturally.”
A long-time fashion and design enthusiast, Priyanka has consistently championed Indian craftsmanship through a modern global lens, often blending structured power dressing with understated elegance. Over the years, she has developed a distinctive identity that reflects individuality, contemporary femininity, and cultural storytelling.
Reflecting on her Cannes debut, she added,“Cannes today is far more than entertainment or fashion. It’s one of the few spaces where people from completely different worlds and industries intersect and shape global conversations together. Global business today is built as much through relationships as through revenue. You never know what one conversation could lead to.”
As the Cannes Film Festival continues to evolve into a global platform bringing together influential voices across industries, Priyanka Chigurupati’s debut reflects the growing presence of Indian business leaders within international cultural and creative conversations.
