Political Manifesto - A Beacon of light- By Susan Anand

Political manifesto at the time of an election is a public declaration of policy, aims and aspirations of the political parties in the fray. It is not simply an election slogan; it is the vision of the party which it promises to actualize on coming into power. Masses get acquainted with major issues and the probable solutions offered by the party.

Though it is an extra-legal document unenforceable in the court of law, yet its non-compliance by the party, after coming into power, is never excused in the court of people, as in a democratic political system, it is the people who are the “King-Makers” ultimately.

Democracy is a derivation from two   words, Demos(people)+ trates(power), which explicitly  recognizes the power of the people in this political setup.

The recent historic and unprecedented election results of Delhi Assembly poll support and substantiate it .The onus to authenticate its poll promises devolves on the ruling party of Delhi Assembly. It needs to put relentless efforts towards the Nine most ambitious and much awaited reforms declared in its poll manifesto.

It is the moral and extra-legal responsibility of the ruling party to realize the ideals setforth. Let Delhi pave the way for an ideal state model. The vision of the party is to provide Delhi its own power station to manage its peak load; to have control on Delhi Police to achieve Accountability; Free Wi-Fi Connectivity across Delhi; CCTV cameras at sensitive and vulnerable points to prevent and check Rape and other crimes; Solar Delhi having alternate source energy and halve electricity bills; “Minimum Life Line” monthly supply of clean drinking water to Delhi households.

Last but not the least, to ensure women security via Women Security Force having network of at least 10,000 women force. Indeed a laudable vision! Surely a few inspirational words would prove guiding light for a political party which is to hold the reins of Delhi Assembly for 5 years.

“Go placidly amid the noise and haste; And remember what peace there may be in silence; As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons; Speak your truth quietly and clearly; And do listen to masses since even the dull and ignorant too have their story; Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans ;Always Be Yourself; Take the  counsel of years gracefully; Whatever labours and aspirations in the noisy confusion of politics, keep peace with yourself; Strive to be happy. Let sincerity, simplicity and humility be the key to your success.”
