Deputy Chairman of SC-ST Commission Raj Kumar on Monday holding a meeting with Commissioner of Police Ludhiana Pramod Ban, Additional Deputy Commissioner Supreet Singh Gulati, Khanna Police District Chief Harsh Bansal and others at Circuit House, Ludhiana, in connection with "police encounter" occurred in the Ahluwalia Colony in the Jamalpur Area (Ludhiana) recently.

 

Ludhiana, September 29, 2014: Deputy Chairman of SC-ST Commission Raj Kumar Verka has assured that police encounter occurred in the Ahluwalia Colony in the Jamalpur Area here recently would be probed in an impartial manner and all facts related to this encounter would be brought before people and suitable action would be initiated against the guilty.
He was speaking to the media persons after holding a meeting with Commissioner of Police Ludhiana Pramod Ban, Additional Deputy Commissioner Supreet Singh Gulati, Khanna Police District Chief Harsh Bansal and also meeting the aggrieved parents of the two brothers killed in the counter. He told that he had directed the police to immediately suspend SHO who lead the police party that indulged into “encounter” and his (SHO) name should be included in the list of the accused.
He told that at first glance the case seemed to be complicated and there seemed to be an involvement of some outside force besides the police. He told that he had also directed to arrest the concerned SHO after placing him under suspension. He has also directed the police to include relevant section so that the case could be also be probed by the Commission itself.
Verka told that he had also directed ADC Supreet Singh Gulati to prepare report and send it to the government for providing compensation of Rs.5 lakh each for the two youths killed to their family members.
Earlier, the police officers at the meeting told Verka that there was no outside pressure with regard to the case and the police was doing as per the law. Ban and Bansal told Verka that two guards and a head constable had already been booked and arrested in connection with the case. They further told that the accused had been sent to judicial remand.
