PM Narendra Modi Compassion Brings Hope to Flood-Hit Punjab: Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal Bhukhri Kalan

Ludhiana, September 9, 2025: National BJP Leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal Bhukhri Kalan today expressed his deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who personally conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Punjab and held a review meeting in Gurdaspur to assess the damage caused by the recent heavy rains, devastating floods and landslides.

Grewal said that the very presence of our beloved Prime Minister in Punjab during these testing times has given new strength and renewed hope to lakhs of families who are facing immense pain and loss. He said that this visit reflects the Prime Minister’s unwavering love, concern and commitment towards the people of Punjab.

Grewal told that the financial assistance package of ₹1,600 crore announced by the Prime Minister, in addition to the ₹12,000 crore already available in the state’s kitty, is a truly historic step. He said that the advance release of the second instalment of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), the support under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and the compassionate announcement of ₹2 lakh ex-gratia for the next of kin of those who lost their lives and ₹50,000 for the injured, have provided great relief to the affected families.

He further said that the Prime Minister’s assurance of comprehensive support under the PM CARES for Children scheme for those orphaned by the floods and landslides reflects his deeply human, fatherly approach and his concern for the future of our children.

Grewal said that the Prime Minister’s multi-dimensional recovery plan including rebuilding homes under the PM Awas Yojana, restoring highways, reconstructing schools, supporting farmers under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, strengthening damaged schools with the help of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, and ensuring long-term water security under Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari program is a complete and visionary roadmap for Punjab’s recovery.

He told that the way Hon’ble Prime Minister Modi Ji met the affected families, expressed condolences to those who lost their loved ones and interacted with NDRF, SDRF, and Aapda Mitra volunteers, praising their tireless efforts, has touched every heart in Punjab.

Grewal said that these measures clearly show that the Centre under Prime Minister Modi Ji’s leadership is standing shoulder to shoulder with Punjab. He assured that with such strong and sensitive leadership, Punjab will not only recover but will emerge stronger, more resilient, and more united than ever before.

He further said that this is the true spirit of Modi’s leadership where the pain of every citizen is felt as the pain of the nation and the progress of every state is seen as the progress of India.

Grewal said that with folded hands the people of Punjab will always remember with love and gratitude the compassion, sincerity and decisive action shown by the Prime Minister in these most difficult times.
