Players are ambassadors of Yudh Nashya Virudh campaign- Cabinet Minister Sond

Beeja (Ludhiana), August 7,2025: Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Thursday stated that the players are brand ambassadors for the Punjab government’s campaign, Yudh Nashya Virudh aimed at making the state drug-free. 

He was speaking at an event organized by the Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji Sports Club, Manji Sahib Kotan, to honour the winners of a Kabaddi Cup.

Sond noted that under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, the government has been providing jobs and cash rewards to athletes who win medals. He elaborated that the sports grounds are being developed in every village across Punjab. He emphasized that the government is fighting for future generations through this campaign, urging youth to stay away from drugs and focus on sports and other activities. Citing renowned Punjabi athletes in hockey, cricket, and other sports, he said they have brought pride to Punjab on national and international stages.

Sond expressed confidence that soon, young athletes from Punjab’s villages will lead the country on the international stage and earn accolades. He further noted that the Punjab government has launched initiatives like Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan to connect youth with sports and steer them away from drugs. 

Khanna Market Committee Chairman Jagtar Singh Gill Rattanheri and others were also present on the occasion.
