Play written by SUPVA Professor to be staged in Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, and Andaman during 25th Bharat Rang Mahotsav
The play 'Babuji', written by Professor Vibhanshu Vaibhav of the Department of Acting of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), has been screened at the 25th Bharat Rang Mahotsav (Bharangam). The play is being staged by the artists of the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi. Bharangam is being organized nationwide by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and NSD.
Rohtak, February 5, 2026: The play 'Babuji', written by Professor Vibhanshu Vaibhav of the Department of Acting of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), has been screened at the 25th Bharat Rang Mahotsav (Bharangam). The play is being staged by the artists of the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi. Bharangam is being organized nationwide by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and NSD.
Professor and playwright Vibhanshu Vaibhav said that the play 'Babuji' was staged on January 31 at the Art of Living International Center in Bangalore, while it will be staged at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, on February 6. It will be staged at the P.L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy in Mumbai on February 10 and in the Andaman Islands on February 15.
Prof. Vibhanshu said that this play, which lasts around two hours, has been performed at more than 100 different locations across the country so far. The play is based on the life of a folk artist who, after retiring from family responsibilities, wants to devote himself to the practice of art. However, the relationships he had voluntarily embraced; turned into chains around his feet.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya said that 'Babuji' depicts the struggles of a folk artist's life, societal hypocrisy, and dedication to art. The story of family disruption is woven into the standards of art, the performances of nautanki, and the resonance of the tabla.
VC Dr. Arya said that the play written by a professor of DLCSUPVA is gaining popularity across the country, which is a matter of pride for everyone. He added that by taking time to write plays in addition to educating and training his students, it is clear that Prof. Vaibhav is making proper use of his writing skills and talent.
