PGIMS, Rohtak observes National Deworming Day

Rohtak, April 21, 2026: National Deworming Day was observed by the Department of Community Medicine at PGIMS, Rohtak. The program was inaugurated by the HoD, Dr. Neelam Kumar.

Assistant Professor Dr. Anuj Jangra informed school children that this day is observed by the Government of India to improve children's health, with the primary objective of eliminating intestinal worms. As part of this initiative, children attending schools and Anganwadi centers are administered the deworming medication, Albendazole.

 Dr. Manoj Saini explained that the main objective of this campaign is to improve children's health, nutrition, and development, as well as to protect them from anemia (blood deficiency). During the event, attendees were made aware of the symptoms of worm infestation, such as abdominal pain, weakness, vomiting, and a lack of weight gain.

Providing information regarding the HPV vaccine for adolescent girls, HoD Dr. Neelam Kumar said that this vaccine—aimed at preventing cervical cancer—is being administered free of cost daily to girls aged 14 to 15 years in Room No. 204 of the New OPD block. Mamta Rani, Dr. Harshit, Seema Rani, Sunny, and others were present on this occasion.
