The PG Department of Commerce and Management organized an Orientation Program for students of B. Com Semester-I, B.Com (FS) Semester-I, BCA, and M. Com Semester-I.
Jalandhar, January 5, 2026: The PG Department of Commerce and Management organized an Orientation Program for students of B. Com Semester-I, B.Com (FS) Semester-I, BCA, and M. Com Semester-I.
The program aimed to introduce students to the Government of Punjab's initiative, “Punjab Startup Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum”, and the usage of the Punjab Startup App.
The resource persons for the seminar were Dr. Kuljeet Kaur, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Commerce and Management and Shikha Puri, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Commerce and Management.
The orientation program covered the key features of the curriculum, including AI-powered learning, real-world projects, mentorship support, and weekly milestones. Students learnt about the benefits of the program, such as empowering youth, industry linkages, and skill development.
The Punjab Startup Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum is a mandatory program for all universities in Punjab, starting from the academic year 2025-26. The program uses AI-enabled modules to guide students in launching and building their own businesses, with a focus on real-world experience and flexible pacing.
Through the Punjab Startup App, students can choose from various business tracks, including e-commerce, content creation, professional services, and retail.
The program's objectives include fostering innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among students, providing them with the necessary skills and mindset to succeed in the business world. By participating in the program, students can gain valuable insights into the startup ecosystem and develop a entrepreneurial mindset.
Overall, the orientation program was a valuable experience for the students, providing them with insights into the Punjab Startup Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum and the opportunities it offers for entrepreneurial growth and development.
33 Students of B.Com (R) Semester-I & B.Com (FS) Semester-I attended the seminar.
President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Dr Pooja Prashar applauded the department for organising a program rooted in real-world experience, mentorship support, and low-cost startup options making it an attractive option for students who want to pursue entrepreneurship as a career.
