PDC team moves to field with focus on rejuvenating 'Buddha Dariya'; visits different sites and take feedback from stakeholders
Reiterating the commitment of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann to rejuvenate 'Buddha Dariya', Punjab Development Commission (PDC) has jumped in to focus on the ground situation and provide solutions for the same.

Ludhiana, January 23, 2025: Reiterating the commitment of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann to rejuvenate 'Buddha Dariya', Punjab Development Commission (PDC) has jumped in to focus on the ground situation and provide solutions for the same.
Punjab Development Commission team led by Member PDC Vaibhav Maheshwari is in the city to take stock of the situation. Senior Research Officer Jashanjot Kaur Brar and Ninad Rajput (GDI partners) are part of the PDC team.
On Thursday, the PDC team started the field inspection from the Koomkalan area, from where the Buddha Dariya originates. The team visited different sites of the Dariya and took samples too. MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, Ludhiana Chief Engineer of PPCB RK Ratra, Chief Engineer Ravinder Garg, Executive Engineer Parshotam Singh among other officials of PPCB, Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Drainage department etc accompanied the PDC team.
Later, the PDC team visited the 225 mld Jamalpur sewer treatment plant (STP) and held meetings with the representatives of the small and large dyeing industry. Office bearers of SPVs operating dyeing industry CETPs were also present in the meeting. The team also visited Gaushala intermediate pumping station (IPS) site, where a temporary pumping station has been established under the 'Kar Sewa' led by Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal to divert the sewer waste towards Jamalpur STP. They also visited the common effluent treatment plant (operated by a private company, JBR Technologies) for treating the wastewater of the electroplating industry.
PDC member, Vaibhav Maheshwari said that the state government led by CM Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to rejuvenate Buddha Dariya. The Chief Minister (CM) is monitoring the situation on a regular basis and IIT Roorkee and IIT Ropar have also been roped in by the government for this project. The aim of PDC is to take stock of the situation, get feedback from all stakeholders and focus on the solutions.
