Ludhiana: The MBA students of PCTE Group of Institutes got shortlisted for the second round of hardware edition and for the grand finale of software edition in Smart India Hackathon 2020 , a nationwide competition organized by the Institution's Innovation Council and MHRD’s Innovation Cell, AICTE, New Delhi where students compete creatively to solve problems of Ministries, Departments and Industries to give solutions.

Smart India Hackathon 2020 provides students a platform to solve some of the pressing problems faced in daily lives where the team that made to the grand finale was given to solve a problem related to waste management and the team came up with PATRAVALI- a disposable product made by leaves to curb the problem of plastic usage.

The other team that got shortlisted from the Round 1 evaluations for SIH2020 Hardware edition and got entry into Round 2 evaluations where they have to send a 3 minutes YouTube video and Supplementary 2 slides PPT, the team had to bring up a solution to the problem related to hygiene and they came up with NAPPADS, a sanitary napkin made from banana fiber.

Prof. Naresh Sachdeva, Dean, Corporate Relations, PCTE Group of Institutes, has been helping the students on regular basis and is also the in charge of the Entrepreneurial Cell, he said that they had really worked hard where they were evaluated on various aspects related to novelty of the idea, complexity,  feasibility, practicability, sustainability, scale of impact, user experience, potential for future work progression and so on. He further added by saying that the competition was huge where 2 Lakh+ students with 57,000+ ideas had come up for the competition.

Dr. KNS Kang, Director General, PCTE Group of Institutes congratulated the students and said that these competitions widen the thought process of the youngsters and prepare them to think out of the box, this eventually helps to outshine from rest of the world.
