PCM S.D College for Women holds 46th Annual Prize Distribution Function  (Sessions 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020- 21, 2021-22)

PCM S.D.College for Women, Jalandhar organized its 46th Annual Prize Distribution Function for the academic sessions 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020- 21 and 2021-22 wherein 481  students were awarded for their excellence in Academics, Sports and Co-Curricular Activities.

Jalandhar, February 22, 2023: PCM S.D.College for Women, Jalandhar organized its 46th Annual Prize Distribution Function for the academic sessions 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020- 21 and 2021-22 wherein 481  students were awarded for their excellence in Academics, Sports and Co-Curricular Activities. 

At the commencement of the function, the chief guest Sanjay Kundu, DGP, Himachal  Pradesh was accorded a floral welcome by the President of the Governing  body of the institution, Naresh Kumar Budhia, Senior Vice-President Shri Vinod Dada, Naresh Markanda, T.N Lama, Raman Budhia,Shri Parmode Chopra, Principal  Prof. Dr.Pooja Prashar,  In-charge of the function Alka Sharma,  Head Girl and  the President of the Youth Club . 

The function formally began with the  lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed  by the recitation of Bhajan by the college students and the playing of Sitar by Dr. Renuka, an alumna of the college. 

Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar gave a formal welcome to all the dignitaries, after which she read out the college Annual Report highlighting the glorious achievements of the college  in academics, sports and cultural arenas. Next came the award of certificates, medals and trophies to the students who made the institution proud by excelling in the fields of academics, culture and sports. This year two students,  Karanpreet and Swati Sharma were conferred with ‘ Prem’ pure gold medals which have been instituted by Dr. Pramode Chand Markanda in the loving memory of his parents to encourage the meritorious students of the college. In total 91 gold medals and 189 silver medals were awarded to the students. These include the university position holders of the Sessions, NCC cadets, sports winners, winners of the GNDU zonal youth festival, office bearers of the Central Association and Youth club, etc. Anzali  was awarded with Gold Medal for being the student of the year and Nobel girl. In addition to this,  Arshpreet Kaur was also awarded  with Gold Medal  for Nobel Girl and Best Central Association Worker of the college. Thereafter the College  Magazine 'Govind' and Annual Report were released. In his spellbinding address the Chief Guest stated that he admired the spirit of participation exhibited by the students as it takes courage to fearlessly step out of one’s comfort zone and showcase one’s talents.  Underlining the significance of reading and general awareness for holistic growth in one's  life, he expressed his belief that success comes as a result of united and consolidated efforts by every member of the team and he hoped that staff and students would continue   to work in unity for the betterment  of the academic world. The worthy Members of the governing body, the Principal and the In-charge of the function presented a momento to the chief guest as a token of gratitude. The students of the Music and Dance Departments enthralled the audience with the presentation of Punjabi Geet and Group Dance. 

The formal Vote of Thanks was delivered by   Naresh Markanda, Secretary of the Governing Body, to all the distinguished  guests and  luminaries for gracing the occasion. As a token of love, the Chief Guest gifted to the institution a Devi Thal having nine Devis carved on it, a pious emblem of Himachal Pradesh. 

The proceedings of the Prize Distribution Function were conducted by Alka Sharma, in-charge of the function. Principal of Seth Hukam Chand School, New Prem Nagar Mamta Behl  Principal of Sada Sukh Chopra School Anjana Rajput, Principal  of Seth Hukam  Chand School,  Kapurthala Sonia Jairath  and Principal  of Seth Hukam Chand School, Wariyana Priyanka Sharma also graced the event. The function concluded with the National Anthem.
