Pawan Dewan Holds Meeting with Residents of BRS Nagar

Ludhiana, September 17, 2026: With the objective of understanding and finding solutions to the problems being faced by residents of the Ludhiana West Assembly constituency, former Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary and former Chairman of the Punjab Large Industrial Development Board, Pawan Dewan, along with his colleagues, met residents of J Block, BRS Nagar, today. The meeting was organised by Kulbir Neeta.
During the meeting, residents told Dewan that frequent and prolonged power cuts were causing them the most inconvenience. Several-hour power outages not only affect inverters but also severely disrupt daily life and routine work. Residents pointed out that, despite prolonged outages, no information about power cuts is often displayed on the PSPCL app. They also complained that the PSPCL customer care number is sometimes unreachable.
Similarly, rejecting the government’s claims of constructing thousands of kilometres of roads, residents said that roads in the area are riddled with potholes. They said that people can suffer injuries if they are unable to spot the potholes in time, while vehicles are also frequently damaged.
Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Dewan said that the government’s development is visible only in advertisements, while the ground reality remains extremely poor. He said that frequent and untimely power cuts have made life difficult for residents and that prolonged outages are causing considerable inconvenience to people in the area.
Dewan further said that the condition of the roads has become even worse due to roads being dug up a few days ago for laying pipelines for canal water, adding to the problems already being faced by residents.
Dewan urged the government to stop focusing on publicity and advertisements and instead pay attention to the genuine problems of the people. He emphasised that people cannot be misled every time and that the government must be held accountable for addressing issues on the ground.
Among others present at the meeting were Inderjit Kapoor, Rohit Pahwa, Brij Mohan Sharma, Brij Mohan Kalia, Dinesh Sharma, Kali Nayyar, Bal Krishan Sharma, Jaswant Singh Kalsi, Rajesh Sharma, Sunil Sharma, Rahul Vig, Raman Sharma, Rajesh Aggarwal and Rajiv Kapoor.
