PAU VICE-CHANCELLOR UNVEILS PUNJABI TRANSLATION OF RENOWNED JAPANESE BOOK 'IKIGAI'

In a brief ceremony hosted at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), the Punjabi translation of the globally acclaimed Japanese book 'Ikigai' was unveiled by Vice Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal. The translation was skillfully done by the esteemed Punjabi poet and Editor of Punjabi at PAU's Communication Centre, Dr. Jagwinder Jodha. Eminent economist and Chairman of the Punjab State Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Commission, Dr. Sukhpal Singh, presided over the event.

Ludhiana, September 28, 2023: In a brief ceremony hosted at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), the Punjabi translation of the globally acclaimed Japanese book 'Ikigai' was unveiled by Vice Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal. The translation was skillfully done by the esteemed Punjabi poet and Editor of Punjabi at PAU's Communication Centre, Dr. Jagwinder Jodha. Eminent economist and Chairman of the Punjab State Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Commission, Dr. Sukhpal Singh, presided over the event.

Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Dr Gosal highlighted the growing interest in translating famous international books into local languages. He emphasized the positive impact this has on local readers. Dr Gosal noted the worldwide popularity of the Japanese book 'Ikigai,' which explores ways to lead a stress-free and long-lived life by adopting Japanese lifestyle principles. He hoped Punjabi readers would find the translated text engaging and valuable.

Dr Sukhpal Singh shared his insights and congratulated the translator for this remarkable endeavour. He underlined the significance of healthy eating and stress-free work environments in enhancing an individual's lifespan, emphasizing that 'Ikigai' provides a pathway to achieve this.

Additional Director of Communication, Dr Tejinder Singh Riar, highlighted the Communication Center's publishing efforts and its ongoing encouragement of faculty to translate the best books on agriculture and other subjects. He acknowledged that while a private publisher published this particular book, the Communication Center's dynamic spirit was instrumental in its translation.
