PAU Professor honoured with silver award in Thailand

Dr Sandeep Singh, a Principal Entomologist (Fruits), working in the Department of Fruit Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), was conferred with a “Silver Award” for the best oral paper presentation during "The Conference of Agricultural Innovation and Natural Resources," organized by The Prince of Songkhla University, Hat Yai Campus, Thailand on August 3 and 4.

Ludhiana, August 10, 2023: Dr Sandeep Singh, a Principal Entomologist (Fruits), working in the Department of Fruit Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), was conferred with a “Silver Award” for the best oral paper presentation during "The Conference of Agricultural Innovation and Natural Resources," organized by The Prince of Songkhla University, Hat Yai Campus, Thailand on August 3 and 4. He was awarded for the paper entitled "Egg-parasitoid Trichogramma embryophagum Hartig can successfully manage litchi fruit borer, Conopomorpha sinensis Bradley in litchi in Punjab, India". The other contributors of this research work include Masrat Siraj and Dr PS Shera, Dr Sumanjit Kaur, Dr RK Sandhu, Dr HS Randhawa, Dr RK Sharma and Dr Manu Tyagi.


Dr Singh was invited by this prestigious University of Thailand as a Visiting Professor from July 28 to August 6, 2023 to do research work on fruit flies. He also delivered a keynote lecture during this conference on the topic "Innovations in management of insect-pests of fruit crop." Besides, Dr Singh participated in Southern Agriculture Fair and farmer's training camp in district Satun where he interacted with scientists of five universities of Thailand and farmers on the topic "Organic Methods of Pest Control." Dr Singh has vast international exposure as he has visited USA, Australia (2014 and 2022), Italy, China, Malaysia, Thailand (2014 and 2023), Indonesia, Pakistan and Nepal on official assignments, for delivering lectures in conferences and as Visiting Scientist.
