Partition horrors remembrance day at DMCH

Ludhiana, August 12, 2022: As a part of the ongoing Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, 14th August is being observed as ‘Partiotion Horrors Rememberance Day’ throughout the country, in memory of struggles and sacrifices of people who were displaced or lost their lives due to the senseless hatred and violence.

To shed light on the suffering of the people during the biggest forced migration during partition, posters were displayed with various photographs and news archives depicting partition and its aftermath at DMCH college campus to describe the horrors and the brutality faced by both sides and the struggles of refugees who were trying to find home in the new land.

Prem Kumar Gupta, secretary, DMCH Managing Society in his message said that people need to be reminded of the sacrifices and the lives lost. This event is an important part of our history and young people should be taught about this as well.

Dr Sandeep Puri, principal, DMCH, said this remembrance day is a reminder to people to give up the social and religious divisions and ethnic tensions and come as one to celebrate the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” on this Independence Day.
This exhibition was jointly curated by Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) and Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA).
