Chandigarh, September 15, 2026: Centre for Media Studies (PU CMS), the outreach arm of the School of Communication Studies, is set to organise its first community workshop on ‘Film Appreciation’ from October 7 to 9, 2026, in collaboration with the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.
The three-day workshop will be conducted at PU from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Prof. Milind Damle, faculty member at FTII, Pune, will serve as the resource person for the workshop.
The workshop is aimed at helping participants develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of cinema as an artistic form and a powerful mode of communication. It will bring together students and citizens to engage with different aspects of cinema and its role in society.
The programme will explore film appreciation as a means of developing cultural awareness, empathy and dialogue, while encouraging audiences to engage with diverse experiences, histories, identities and social realities. The initiative seeks to contribute to a more culturally sensitive and media-literate society.
The workshop is being organised in collaboration with FTII, Pune, only film and television university under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, along with the Centre for Open Learning.
