Panjab University to Hold Annual Convocation in December 2025
Panjab University (PU) will hold its Annual Convocation in December 2025. This was announced by PU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig while addressing the meeting of all Chairpersons, Directors, and Coordinators of University Teaching Departments at the Senate Hall, PU.

Chandigarh, October 15, 2025: Panjab University (PU) will hold its Annual Convocation in December 2025. This was announced by PU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig while addressing the meeting of all Chairpersons, Directors, and Coordinators of University Teaching Departments at the Senate Hall, PU.
Emphasising the need for a healthy and progressive campus, Prof. Vig called upon all departments to initiate intensive awareness campaigns on the menace of drugs and to involve students in activities promoting mental health, the ‘Say No to Drugs’ movement, and the ‘Viksit Bharat’ mission. The Chancellor and Hon’ble Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, has desired that the University should be completely drug-free. “This can be achieved with the help of each and every department,” she added.
Suggesting ways to improve the University’s rankings, the Vice-Chancellor stressed the need for timely submission of accurate data and strategic planning to further improve PU’s position in national and international rankings. She emphasised that each department must periodically evaluate its progress and scores vis-à-vis other institutions and work towards measurable improvements through collective effort and innovation.
In a student-friendly direction, Prof. Vig also advised University departments to keep their departmental libraries open from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. during the examination period so that students can make better use of books, reference materials, and reading room facilities.
IQAC Director Prof. Sonal Singhal made a detailed presentation on improving University rankings and suggested practical measures to enhance PU’s global and national reputation.
Prof. Latika Sharma briefed the meeting about the preparations for the forthcoming Global Alumni Meet being held on 1 November.
Controller of Examinations Prof. Jagat Bhushan informed that all undergraduate entrance tests will be conducted in December-January and advised departments to ensure timely preparations for the same.
Finance and Development Officer Dr. Vikram Nayyar informed the HoDs regarding implementation of online Student record management system which shall capture the complete life cycle of the student. This portal has separate interface for departments as well as Students.
The meeting was attended by Dean of University Instruction Prof. Yojna Rawat, Director, Research and Development Cell Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, and all Chairpersons of University Teaching Departments.
