The Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, in collaboration with Chandigarh Police, has commenced a seven-day police station attachment programme for its students as part of the ongoing three-week internship programme.

Chandigarh, July 8, 2026: The Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, in collaboration with Chandigarh Police, has commenced a seven-day police station attachment programme for its students as part of the ongoing three-week internship programme.
Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Chairperson, Centre for Police Administration, PU, expressed gratitude to Pushpendra Kumar, IGP, Chandigarh Police; Manjeet Sheoran, Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Chandigarh; and Inspector Punam Dilawari, Chief Law Instructor, Recruit Training Centre, Sector 26, Chandigarh, for facilitating the attachment programme and providing students with valuable practical learning opportunities.
Dr. Kuldeep Singh said that the police station attachment enables students to understand the role of police stations in the criminal justice system and provides practical exposure to the functioning of law enforcement agencies. He added that the programme will help students appreciate the relationship between the police and various stakeholders while strengthening their understanding of public safety, community engagement, and policing practices.
As per the schedule approved by Manjeet Sheoran, Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Chandigarh, the students have been attached for one week to Police Station Sector 3, Police Station Sector 19, Police Station Sector 26, Police Station Sector 34, and Police Station Sector 36.
During the attachment, students will receive practical exposure to police station administration, crime registration procedures, investigation processes, community policing initiatives, cybercrime prevention, traffic management, women and child protection mechanisms, and public grievance redressal. They will also interact with police personnel to understand the responsibilities, challenges, and best practices associated with contemporary policing.
The first day of the attachment commenced with an orientation on the organisation and functioning of police stations conducted by the respective Station House Officers (SHOs) and their teams at the designated police stations.
Dr. Shaveta Begra, Dr. Satnam Singh, Dr. Daljit Kaur, and Sub-Inspector Kuldeep Singh accompanied the students to the designated police stations.
