Panjab University Special Lecture on “Police Station Management: Theory and Practice” Organised by Police Administration

Chandigarh, September 15, 2026: The Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Placement Cell and NCC PU, organised a special lecture on “Police Station Management: Theory and Practice” to provide students and research scholars with practical insights into the functioning, administration and management of police stations.
The lecture commenced with an introduction to the theme by Chairman, Centre for Police Administration, PU, Dr. Kuldeep Singh. He elaborated on the multifaceted functioning of a police station, highlighting its administrative, operational and investigative dimensions. He emphasized the importance of understanding the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical policing and explained how effective police station management contributes to efficient and citizen-oriented policing.
The keynote speaker, Inspector and Station House Officer (SHO), Baddi Police Station, Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Shiv Ram Krishan shared his practical experiences and professional insights into police station management. He discussed the concept and structure of a police station, administrative responsibilities, management practices, operational challenges, investigation procedures and contemporary challenges faced by police personnel in their day-to-day functioning.
Dr. Shiv Ram Krishan also engaged extensively with the students and research scholars during an interactive question-and-answer session. He responded to their queries concerning the working of police stations, investigation practices, operational difficulties and challenges in police administration. His practical and experience-based lecture helped participants develop a better understanding of the realities of police station functioning and the challenges encountered by police officers in the field.
Dr. Satnam Singh introduced the keynote speaker and welcomed the participants. Dr. Sanjeev Ranjan proposed the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the keynote speaker, collaborating units, faculty members, research scholars and students for their participation.
Dr. Shaveta Begra and Dr. Daljit Kaur, along with approximately 50 students and research scholars, attended the special lecture.
