Panjab University Research scholar from Centre for Nuclear Medicine presented his research work and received an award with cash prize during the 27th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Indonesian Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Theranostics, held from September 5th to 6th, 2025, in Samarinda, Indonesia.

Chandigarh, September 8, 2025: Panjab University Research scholar from Centre for Nuclear Medicine presented his research work and received an award with cash prize during the 27th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Indonesian Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Theranostics, held from September 5th to 6th, 2025, in Samarinda, Indonesia. With a theme “Strengthening Nuclear Medicine and Molecular TheranosticRole in Multidisciplinary Approach of Personalized Medicine”, the event served as a platform for fostering scientific and intellectual exchange among distinguished world-class experts and participants. 

The research paper presented by Sachin Tayal encompasses radio synthesis and bioevaluation of a widely used alkylating drug as radiotracer for glioma imaging. He is pursuing his PhD under the supervision of Dr Vijayta D Chadha, Chairperson at PU’s Centre for Nuclear Medicine, along with Professor DK Dhawan, PU and Prof Rakesh Kapoor, PGIMER. The Centre for Nuclear Medicine at PU is actively engaged in conducting preclinical research in the area of radio pharmaceutical development for targeting different types of cancerous lesions using experimental animalmodels and tumor cell lines. Last year, another research scholar from the Centre, Ms Swati Bhat, also received an international award(Prof Philip Grammaticos award) by International Medical Olympicus Association during the 7th International medical Olympiad Conference on “Global health: Emerging trends and future challenges”.
