Panjab University Organises Two-Day Orientation Programme for UIFT & VD Newly Admitted B.Sc. Students

The University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development UIFT & VD, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, held a two-day Orientation Programme for newly admitted B.Sc. students on 30th and 31st July, under the chairmanship of Prof. Prabhdip Brar and was coordinated by Dr. Ramandeep Bawa.

Chandigarh, July 31, 2026: The University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development UIFT & VD, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, held a two-day Orientation Programme for newly admitted B.Sc. students on 30th and 31st July, under the chairmanship of Prof. Prabhdip Brar and was coordinated by Dr. Ramandeep Bawa.
The programme aimed to familiarise students with the department, faculty, curriculum, campus facilities, and career opportunities in fashion and allied industries. A welcome address was delivered by Prof. Prabhdip Brar, who encouraged students to make full use of academic and extracurricular opportunities at PU.
Interactive sessions were conducted by faculty members and guest speakers. Dr. Gaurav Gaur, Centre for Social Work, PU emphasised social awareness, personal development, and holistic education. A session by Acclaimed cartoonist with The Tribune, Sandeep Joshi used art and humor to promote interaction and creative expression.
Dr. Ramandeep Bawa introduced career prospects in the fashion industry and highlighted required skills and professional competencies. Arushi explained key fashion terminologies, while Deepa conducted a session on sewing and garment construction.
Dr. Anupam Bhari, NSS Programme Coordinator, UILS, PU motivated students to develop leadership qualities and engage in co-curricular and community activities. 
Another NSS volunteer Rachat shared his journey and experience as an NSS Volunteer. Entrepreneur Manisha Dhiman, UIFT alumnus, shared her journey in fashion, art, and interior design, encouraging creativity and interdisciplinary thinking. 
On the second day, students visited the PU Central Library and University Museum as part of a guided campus tour to familiarise themselves with institutional facilities.
The programme concluded, leaving students with greater awareness of academic life, professional opportunities, and the university’s vibrant culture, while instilling confidence, enthusiasm, and a sense of belonging at UIFT & VD.
