Panjab University Marks World Health Day with Focus on Science and Well-being
Centre for Public Health Hosts Awareness Programme in Collaboration with Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Institute
Chandigarh, April 8, 2026: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, through its Centre for Public Health, organised a World Health Day event on April 7, 2026, centred on the theme “Together for Health; Stand with Science.”
The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Institute of Health, the university’s healthcare facility providing preventive and clinical services to the campus community. The event was held under the guidance of Dr. Manoj Kumar, Chairperson, Centre for Public Health, along with faculty members Dr. Parvreet Kaur, Col. (Dr.) Bhumeh Singh Dhadwal, Dr. Poonam Sharma, and Dr. Arun Bansal from the Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Institute of Health.
An expert session was delivered by Dr. Shakuntla U Lavasa, who highlighted the importance of maintaining a balance between mental and physical health as essential to overall well-being. She highlighted the role of public health professionals in disease prevention, health promotion, research, and community engagement, noting their contribution to improving population health outcomes.
The programme saw active participation from students and faculty members, emphasising the need to integrate mental, emotional, and physical health into everyday life.
