Panjab University Launches One-Month International Summer School Programme 2026

The Design Innovation Centre MDaRT (Medical Devices and Restorative Technologies), Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (CSDE), inaugurated the International Summer School Programme 2026 with an induction ceremony attended by participants from institutions across the country.

Chandigarh, June 8, 2026: The Design Innovation Centre MDaRT (Medical Devices and Restorative Technologies), Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (CSDE), inaugurated the International Summer School Programme 2026 with an induction ceremony attended by participants from institutions across the country.
The one-month programme offers two specialised electives- Full Stack Artificial Intelligence (FSAI) and Digital Design and Technologies (DDT) aimed at providing advanced, industry-oriented training in emerging technologies. A total of 374 applications were received for the two courses, out of which 110 candidates were selected, reflecting the growing interest in technology-driven skill development programmes.
Participants have enrolled from several leading institutions, including NIT Patna, NIT Kurukshetra, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh University, Amity University, NMIMS, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, CCET, CGC Landran, HPTU, SSBUICET, UIET Hoshiarpur Campus and UIET, PU.
The induction ceremony featured an overview of the programme’s journey since its inception in 2021, highlighting its evolution from a broad-based training initiative to a focused platform for advanced technological learning. Addressing the participants, Prof. Suveera Gill, Honorary Director, CSDE; Prof. Prashant Jindal, Principal Investigator, Design Innovation Centre; and Prof. Mamta Juneja, Investigator, Design Innovation Centre, higlighted the Centre’s ongoing research initiatives, international collaborations and vision for innovation-driven education. The speakers also announced the continuation of MDaRT’s Alumni Talks Series, which will feature professionals from Australia, Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.
The programme follows a structured format combining theoretical learning, hands-on training and project-based deliverables, enabling participants to develop a practical portfolio during the course.
The Full Stack Artificial Intelligence track covers Python programming, data science, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, large language model (LLM)-based applications, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and agentic AI systems. The Digital Design and Technologies track offers training in computer-aided design (CAD) modelling, embedded systems, biomedical signal processing, edge AI, physical fabrication, additive manufacturing, mechanical characterisation and assembly technologies.
The two electives have been designed to equip participants with both conceptual understanding and practical expertise, preparing them to contribute effectively to innovation, research and technology-driven industries.
