Panjab University Internal Smart India Hackathon (SHI-2025) Shortlists 45 Teams for Nationals; Three Special Awards Conferred

Panjab University’s Internal Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 concluded at the UICET Auditorium, with 67 (UG and PG) teams from across the PU campus presenting solutions in Software and Hardware tracks. After multi-round jury evaluations, 45 teams were nominated for the national round, with 5 teams wait-listed as per SIH guidelines.

Chandigarh, 12 September 2025: Panjab University’s Internal Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 concluded at the UICET Auditorium, with 67 (UG and PG) teams from across the PU campus presenting solutions in Software and Hardware tracks. After multi-round jury evaluations, 45 teams were nominated for the national round, with 5 teams wait-listed as per SIH guidelines.

The evaluation and organising committee comprised Prof. Savita Gupta, Prof. Rohit K. Sharma (Director, BIONEST), Prof. Ritu Gupta (UICET), Prof. Naveen Aggarwal (UIET), Prof. Naresh Kumar (UIET), Dr. VanditaKakkar (UIPS), Prof. Rohini Sharma (MCA), and Dr. Naveen (IUAMS).
Special Awards (PU Internal SIH-2025)
•    Innovation Award (Best Innovation) — for the most original, high-impact idea.
•    R&DC Director’s Award (Best Researched) — for the strongest literature/market validation and problem understanding.
•    Industrial Ready Award (Top TRL) — for the most deployment-ready prototype with clear path to pilots.

Prof. Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, said: “Our students are solving live national problem statements with rigour and empathy. The hackathon culture at PU strengthens India’s innovation pipeline and aligns with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.”

Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Director, Research & Development Cell (R&DC), added:“This year’s entries stood out for cross-disciplinary collaboration and clear problem–solution fit. R&DC will continue to mentor shortlisted teams for the national stage and facilitate necessary resources.”

Congratulations to the 45 nominated teams and the 5 wait-listed teams—keep refining your prototypes and documentation for the next round.” He acknowledged the MSME Incubation Centre, Panjab University, for sponsoring the event.
