Panjab University Hosts Advanced Training Workshop on Animal Handling and Translational Research
A five-day Advanced Workshop on Animal Handling, Experimental Model Development, and Neurophysiological & Neurobehavioural Techniques began today at the Department of Zoology, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Chandigarh, May 11, 2026: A five-day Advanced Workshop on Animal Handling, Experimental Model Development, and Neurophysiological & Neurobehavioural Techniques began today at the Department of Zoology, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Dean of University Instruction, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The workshop is being held under the aegis of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) from May 11-15. A total of 35 participants from different institutions of North India are participating in the event.
PU Dean of University Instruction Prof. Meenakshi Goyal highlighted the importance of structured academic training and research-oriented learning in nurturing scientific excellence among young scholars. She mentioned that modern biological research calls for interdisciplinary knowledge, practical skills, and a strong commitment to ethical scientific practices, particularly in the use of experimental models and translational research.
Earlier, Dr. Mani Chopra, Organising Secretary introduced the gathering to the objectives of the workshop. She emphasised that the training programme has been designed to provide both conceptual understanding and hands-on practical exposure in modern laboratory animal methodologies and their translational relevance. Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Chairperson delivered the welcome address.
The sessions of the workshop started with Animal Handling techniques by Prof. Sukhbir Kaur and Dr. Mani Chopra. In the afternoon, Dr. Ravneet Kaur demonstrated Zebra Fish model to the participants which was followed by the session of Prof. Rajat Sandhir.
