Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, in collaboration with HelpAge India, today organised an intergenerational event titled “The Golden Bridge – Yuva-Vriddha Milan” at the English Auditorium, Panjab University.

Chandigarh, March 20, 2026: Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, in collaboration with HelpAge India, today organised an intergenerational event titled “The Golden Bridge – Yuva-Vriddha Milan” at the English Auditorium, Panjab University.
The event aimed to strengthen the connection between the “golden years” (elderly population) and the younger generation, promoting mutual respect, understanding, and social inclusion.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome of guests, followed by an introduction to the initiatives of HelpAge India. The ceremonial lamp lighting marked the formal inauguration of the event by the Hon’ble Chief Guest, Prof. Yajvender Pal Sharma, Registrar, Panjab University.
The distinguished dignitaries present included Mr Prateep Chakravarthy (Chief Operating Officer, HelpAge India), Mr Kamal Sharma (State In-charge, HelpAge India), and Ms Prem Poddar (HelpAge India, Delhi). The Chief Guest addressed the gathering, appreciating the initiative and stressing the role of institutions in promoting inclusive social environments.
Dr Manoj Kumar, Chairperson, Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, delivered an insightful address on intergenerational bonding, highlighting the importance of emotional support and shared experiences between age groups.
The programme also featured a thought-provoking theatrical performance titled “Jab Jaago Tab Savera” by the Chandigarh Theatre Group, followed by a mesmerising musical performance by renowned flautist Sh. Prakash Chand.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organisers for their contributions. The programme ended on a positive note with a networking lunch, reinforcing the theme of connection and togetherness.
This initiative stands as a meaningful step towards building a more compassionate and inclusive society where generations come together to learn, share, and grow.
