Architects under the banner of The Indian Institute of Architects Ludhiana Centre (IIALC) organized a panel discussion, “Is Design just a Visual Art?” in association with Festival of Architecture and Interior Design (FOAID), which was attended by more than three hundred architects and interior designers.

Ludhiana, February 18, 2023: Architects under the banner of The Indian Institute of Architects Ludhiana Centre (IIALC) organized a panel discussion, “Is Design just a Visual Art?” in association with Festival of Architecture and Interior Design (FOAID), which was attended by more than three hundred architects and interior designers.

With Ar. Sanjay Goel as the moderator, and other panelists including Ar. Amrita Taneja, Ar. RajanTangri, Ar. Yogesh Singla and Ar. Bimaldeep Singh, the informative session talked about how architecture and design are more than just visual aesthetics. Everyone agreed that they’re more about functionality. They also discussed the impact of visual aesthetics posted on social media on the style of Ludhiana and Punjab, which is a major concern now that we see clients getting pictures from Pinterest and Instagram and asking the designers to replicate it.
 
Ar. Sanjay Goel, moderator, who is also the Chairman of The Indian Institute of Architects Punjab Chapter, asked interesting questions to all the panelists and shared his wise words with the audience regarding technology, smart architecture, and functionality. The audience was extremely satisfied with the panel discussion, especially, with the educated answers by all the panelists.
 
Later, the architects witnessed aknowledgeable interaction between Ar. Zafar Chaudhary, Principal Architect of Habitat Architects with projects located globally and Ar. Aman Aggarwal, Principal Architect of Charged Voids also known for his extinguishing works. The discussion was very illuminating, talking about holistic design, technology, AI, and design sensibilities. It was followed by an open-ended Q/A session for the audience where a lot of Architects like Ar. Aditi Soni, Ar. Anshia Badyal, Ar. Vikas Sharma, Ar. Charanpreet Singh, and Ar. Palka Kaur questioned the esteemed guests about their concerns in the field and the future of the field of architecture and design. The responses were very insightful and deep, full of research and experience in their field. 
 
The Q/A session was very long and thought-provoking, and more than ten leading architects asked relevant questions. Ar. Zafar Chaudhary shared his lifetime experiences from his student life till today, and how he is successfully working globally right now.
 
The event included stalls from all the major companies like Jaipur Rugs, CMC, Dorset, Wipro etc. followed by a small introduction to the FOAID mega events upcoming this year for all the people in this profession.
 
The session concluded with a vote of thanks and all the guests were honored with a memento. The session was followed by dinner where all the people in the field of architecture got an opportunity to interact with each other.
 
All in all, it was a great platform for professionals to learn from the experienced ones, interact with each other and come together to find solutions to the existing problems in the design field.
