A One-Day  Orientation Workshop  on "NEP 2020: What’s New for the Undergraduate students" was organised by College development Council, NEP Cell and HRDC PU for the NEP nodal officers / faculty members of colleges of Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur districts on 18 August 2023 at UGC HRDC, South Campus, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The event was sponsored by RUSA.

Chandigarh, August 18, 2023: A One-Day  Orientation Workshop  on "NEP 2020: What’s New for the Undergraduate students" was organised by College development Council, NEP Cell and HRDC PU for the NEP nodal officers / faculty members of colleges of Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur districts on 18 August 2023 at UGC HRDC, South Campus, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The event was sponsored by RUSA.

The primary objective was acquainting educators with the transformative changes and novel provisions introduced by NEP 2020 for the benefit of undergraduate students. Prof.Sanjay  Kaushik commenced the event through his welcome address. Prof. Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University gave a comprehensive overview of the steps taken by the University in implementation of FYUP in her keynote speech. She highlighted the importance of offering multi-disciplinary courses ,VACs and Skill enhancement Courses for the holistic development of young citizens. Prof Latika Sharma Coordinator NEP cell spoke on the theme Harnessing the power of education. 

Prof. Anuradha Associate Director IQAC spoke about the importance of NEP implementation as per NAAC criteria. Dr. Kirti Vardhan gave a clear account of how a student can understand the new structure, choose courses of study and understand the credits required for getting an undergraduate degree with the facility of Multiple Entry and Multiple Exit. Prof. Tejinder Pal Singh gave an insightful talk about proficiency in designing of Skill Enhancement Courses. Dr. Upneet Mangat talked about the component of Multidisciplinary Courses in the Curriculum structure, the credit requirement and how these coursee are to be transacted and evaluated. Dr. Vishal explained how the SWAYAM portal is to be used while selecting Value added courses for students,their registration and award of credits. Prof Anil Monga provided an in-depth understanding of the policy's implications for undergraduate education and facilitated discussions among participants to address their queries and concerns in order to  sensitize them on how to implement the NEP alighned structure and syllabi effectively. 

Dr. Jayanti Dutta Deputy Director HRDC PU reminded the audience about the multiple benefits that engaging with the policy provides to every teacher who is also a parent, a mentor, a citizen and Nation builder. Mrs. Indu Aggarwal focussed her interaction on developing entrepreneurship among teachers for providing Holistic education to students. Around 60 + participants benefitted through the in-depth discussions and knowledge exchange among academia, fostering a deeper understanding of the policy's implications. 

Prof. Latika Sharma coordinated the sessions and answered the queries of the participating teachers. The event was thought-provoking with many take aways. The Valedictory session was chaired by Prof Sanjay Kaushik Dean College Development Council.
