Online Workshop on Cyber First Responder Programme for NCC Girl Cadets at Khalsa College for Women
In a significant initiative to enhance digital literacy and safety among the youth, an online workshop on "Cyber First Responder" was conducted under the aegis of NCC Gp HQ Ludhiana by 3 Punjab Girls Battalion NCC Ludhiana in liaison with the United Service Institution (USI), New Delhi for 510 NCC girl cadets of Ludhiana Group Headquarters on 24th June 2025.

Ludhiana, June 24, 2025: In a significant initiative to enhance digital literacy and safety among the youth, an online workshop on "Cyber First Responder" was conducted under the aegis of NCC Gp HQ Ludhiana by 3 Punjab Girls Battalion NCC Ludhiana in liaison with the United Service Institution (USI), New Delhi for 510 NCC girl cadets of Ludhiana Group Headquarters on 24th June 2025.
This digital empowerment session was organized under the guidance of Brigadier P.S. Cheema, SM, VSM, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters Ludhiana, and as per the directives of Major General J.S. Cheema, ADG, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh & Chandigarh (PHHP&C) Directorate and the higher directions from DGNCC Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM. The Cyber First Responder Online workshop was held at Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, during the ongoing Annual Training Camp–54, with the Camp Commandant Colonel R.S. Chauhan ensuring that over Five Hundred plus NCC Girl Cadets and Staff undergo Cyber First Responder Online Workshop.
Cadets from 3 Punjab Girls Battalion NCC, 3 Punjab Battalion NCC, 19 Punjab Battalion NCC, and 4 Punjab Air Squadron NCC enthusiastically participated in the workshop, which aimed at equipping them with essential knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals. The session educated cadets and NCC instructor staff on safe digital practices, the concept of cyber hygiene, and the role of first responders in identifying and mitigating cyber threats. The session was covered by Mr Tushar Sharma a Cyber Security expert and a Lawyer. The initiative included Cyber Awareness, Cyber Security Keys to save from Cyber Crime, How to Cope with Cyber Crime and various case studies. The session ended with Question-and-answer sessions. Mr Tushar stressed on Self Responsibly by Cadets, also encouraged NCC cadets to join ‘Cyber Peace’ as volunteer.
The Cyber First Responder program emphasized the importance of awareness in today’s digital age, preparing young cadets to act responsibly and vigilantly while navigating online platforms. The interactive and informative session, led by Brig Vivek Verma (Retd) Head of Visted Service Institute Cyber Awareness Institute and a Seminar Research Fellow at USI, Lt Cdr Seema Gupta Cyber Peace Head and Outreach Administrative Media Instructor Tushar Sharma, served as a crucial step in grooming NCC cadets to become informed digital citizens and potential cyber sentinels of the future. Brig Vivek Verma (Retd), interacted with NCC Girl Cadets and made them understand regarding Cyber Safety by narrating historical incident of the Trojan Horse, Ashwathama incident between Dronacharya and Yudhister in Mahabharat and Sita Haran incident in Ramayana to bring home the point of Cyber Crime / Cyber Fraud.
This initiative marks another stride by the NCC in aligning youth training with national priorities in cybersecurity, ensuring that cadets are not only physically and mentally prepared but also digitally aware and responsible. Overall, it was a great initiative to empower NCC Girl Cadets against prevalent Cyber Crime and making them volunteers of “Cyber First Responder”.
