On National Deworming Day, DC Sachin Gupta administered medicine to children

Rohtak, August 26, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said that with proper coordination between the Health and Education Departments, the campaign to administer deworming tablets to children for eliminating stomach worms can be made successful. The Deputy Commissioner was addressing students and staff members after giving deworming tablets to children at the Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, Bhiwani Road, Rohtak. The program was organized by the Health Department on the occasion of National Deworming Day.

DC Sachin Gupta said that every possible effort must be made to ensure that the medicine reaches all targeted children. He emphasized the need to spread awareness among children and their parents about the dangers of worm infections and the importance of cleanliness. He also added that people must be educated about the hygiene practices required to prevent worm infections. He stated that protecting children from malnutrition and creating health awareness among them is a responsibility that all departments must fulfill collectively to make this program a success.

While interacting with the school children, the Deputy Commissioner said that the objective of observing National Deworming Day is to provide Albendazole tablets to all children aged 1 to 19 years, so that they can become worm-free and their nutrition levels can improve.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramesh Chandra said that due to stomach worms, children often suffer from anemia, loss of appetite, and stomach pain. Deworming helps in improving hemoglobin levels and overall nutrition. Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Anjali Arora said that symptoms of malnutrition include diarrhea, stomach pain, weakness, vomiting, loss of appetite, lack of concentration in studies, and anemia.

National Deworming Day was observed across all schools, Anganwadi centers, coaching centers, and colleges in Rohtak district. She informed that out of 378,944 children, around 323,618 were administered deworming tablets today, while the remaining children will be given the tablets on September 2, 2025. In addition, around 22,474 women aged 20 to 24 years were also provided the tablets.
