Chandigarh, December 26, 2018: On the second day of the seven days NSS camp, Dr. Kanwal Vilku, addressed the NSS Volunteers at Panjab University campus. She is the only Indian woman who has spent winters on the Antarctica. She was honoured by the President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in New Delhi on the occasion of foundation day celebrations of the Department of Ocean Development on July 27, 2004. She stormed the male bastion at the age of 52 and spent 16 months from Dec. 1999 on Antarctica with a group of 24 scientists conducting experiments. She shared her experiences of her journey and the hardships faced her during that time. With the help of excellent photographs, her presentation was very well appreciated by the volunteers and the programme officers.
The second session of the day was delivered by Dr Anurag, a renowned Cardiologist of our country. He shared the vital statistics about the cardiac dis-arrest and related diseases. He suggested the young people to take care of their diet and take proper sleep. He appealed the audience to have regular exercise and stay fit and make your heart healthy.
