MP Deepender Hooda demands a bonus along with MSP procurement from farmers

Rohtak, September 28, 2025: Lok Sabha MP Deepender Hooda participated in a Ram Katha organized by the Kumaon Sabha in village Bhaiyapur (Ladhaut) and other social events on Sunday. He said that Haryana farmers have not even recovered from the floods and are now facing the brunt of government oppression. The government made lofty promises but has completely failed to fulfill its responsibility of ensuring the purchase of crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Due to the suspension of government procurement, farmers are forced to sell their produce at throwaway prices, which clearly demonstrates the government's intent to destroy farmers and the market system. He said that due to the lack of government procurement in the markets, farmers are forced to sell their paddy at a rate of 300 to 400 rupees per quintal less. Government agencies are refusing to procure produce citing moisture. The MP demanded that farmers be given a bonus along with the MSP.

Deepender Hooda stated that the BJP had promised paddy farmers a rate of ₹3,100 per quintal before the elections, but this promise was not fulfilled either last season or this season. Today, paddy is arriving in the state's markets at a brisk pace, but farmers are suffering due to the lack of procurement. Due to the government's failure to procure paddy, millet, cotton, and other crops on time, farmers are wandering the markets. Their produce is spoiling under the open sky instead of being sold. In many places, gate passes are not being issued due to a lack of verification on the portal, while in others, rice millers are facing difficulties due to a lack of registration. Middlemen are exploiting this system. Paddy with an MSP of ₹2,369 is being purchased at a rate of ₹1,900 to ₹2,000 per quintal.

The MP said that instead of responding to the 50% US tariff on Indian products, the BJP government appeased the US and foreign companies by eliminating the 11% import duty on foreign cotton, but stabbed Indian farmers in the back. The BJP government, which raises the slogan of Swadeshi, is working not for the farmers but to fill the pockets of big capitalists and foreign companies. He also demanded the reinstatement of the 11% import duty on foreign cotton, a mandatory policy for the textile industry to buy domestic cotton, and MSP guarantee and government procurement for cotton farmers in all states, including Haryana and Punjab.
