Ludhiana, May 12, 2025: Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora, along with Punjab Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat, laid the foundation stone of a Rs.25 lakh Mohalla Clinic near Middha Chowk on Monday.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, MP Arora directed the concerned officials to expedite the construction and ensure that the clinic becomes operational within a month. He noted that establishing a Mohalla Clinic in the area had been a long-pending demand, especially since a significant portion of the local population belongs to the labour class.
Arora informed that residents had recently approached him, citing their inability to afford expensive treatments at private clinics and hospitals. Following this, he discussed the issue with Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, and it was decided to set up a Mohalla Clinic for the larger benefit of the local community.
Highlighting the broader vision, Arora said that Mohalla Clinics, an initiative by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, represent a transformative step toward accessible and affordable primary healthcare. These clinics are modeled after the successful implementation in Delhi under former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
He added that the clinics aim to provide free, quality healthcare services at the grassroots level. They play a crucial role in decentralizing healthcare delivery, enabling easier access to medical consultations, essential medicines, and diagnostic tests—especially for the underprivileged, elderly, women, and daily wage earners.
Adding, he said these clinics help streamline the healthcare system and promote early diagnosis and treatment. Arora emphasized that the initiative reflects the AAP government's commitment to strengthening public health infrastructure and delivering citizen-centric governance, ultimately leading to a more equitable and healthier Punjab.
He urged the residents to make the most of the clinic’s services once it becomes operational.
Arora, who is the AAP candidate from Ludhiana (West) for the upcoming assembly bypoll, presented his three-year performance report and appealed to the voters for their support. He pledged to work “four times harder” if elected.
Minister Mohinder Bhagat praised Arora for bringing tremendous development to the city over the past three years. He appealed to the public to ensure Arora’s resounding victory in the bypoll, calling him a dynamic and development-oriented leader.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramandeep Kaur was also present. Others present at the event included Councilor Kapil Kumar Sonu, Ajay Dang, and Ritesh Arora.
Later, Arora alongwith Punjab Minister Mohinder Bhagat laid foundation stones of two gates one each dedicated to Bhagat Kabir and Bhagwan Valmiki at Jawahar Nagar Camp here on Monday. Among others, councilor Kapil Kumar Sonu, Kimti Bhagat, Raj Kumar, Khaira, Sham Lal Bhagat, Raj Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Tilak Raj and Ravi Bhagat were present.
