MP Arora confers Proprietary Rights to 151 Households of Jawaddi Kalan after 50 years
Till date, a total 1,523 households have been granted proprietary rights

Ludhiana, May 19, 2025: In a significant step toward empowering residents living within the Lal Lakir, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora today conferred proprietary rights to 151 households of Jawaddi Kalan under the “Mera Ghar Mere Naam” scheme. The property certificates were distributed at a special event held at Government High School, Jawaddi Kalan.
Addressing the gathering, MP Arora described the initiative as a landmark move aimed at resolving long-standing property ownership issues in Jawaddi Kalan. Residents had been demanding legal ownership of their homes for about 50 years.
Highlighting the broader impact of the scheme, Arora said, “This initiative not only addresses decades-old challenges but also restores dignity and opens new economic opportunities for residents. By granting legal recognition, it allows residents to leverage their property for financial growth—whether through loans or future family planning.”
The move was overwhelmingly appreciated by residents, who expressed heartfelt gratitude for the fulfilment of this long-pending demand. Earlier this month, beneficiaries in Sunet, Barewal, Haibowal Kalan and Haibowal Khurd received proprietary rights certificates. Arora stated that, as of today, 1,523 households—including those in Jawaddi Kalan—have been granted proprietary rights. He added that any remaining areas may also be covered in the future.
Arora noted that the issue of Lal Lakir ownership surfaced repeatedly during his campaign meetings in Sunet, Barewal, and Haibowal. “Legal ownership empowers residents to use their property as a financial asset, promoting independence and stability,” he said. He said certificates have been prepared after a comprehensive verification process conducted by various government departments.
He apprised the beneficiaries that any corrections required in the property certificates can be made at the MCL D-Zone Office on all working days between 10 AM and 5 PM within the next 90 days. He extended his gratitude to the government officers involved for their cooperation in successfully executing the initiative and encouraged residents to celebrate the occasion, saying, “You are now the rightful proprietors of your homes.”
Arora presented his three-year report card and announced to work four times more if elected in the upcoming bypoll from Ludhiana (West) assembly seat.
Mayor Principal Inderjeet Kaur praised the work done by MP Arora, stating that he has created history by carrying out a wide range of development projects across Ludhiana over the past three years. She noted that MP Arora had even completed projects that had been pending for decades. She urged the public to support and vote for MP Arora if they wished to see continued development in the future.
The event was attended by Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Parashar, Satwinder Singh Jawaddi, Amrinder Singh Jawaddi, Tanvir Singh Dhaliwal, Harpreet Singh and Gurmukh Singh, among others.
