More than 400 students participated in National Science Week – Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate at HMV

Jalandhar, February 26, 2022: Under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar is celebrating 7 day long Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate- Festival of Scope for all, “Science Communication, Popularization & Its Extension” . College is celebrating this event in association with Ministry of Culture, PSA Govt. of India and Vigyan Prasar, to mark 75th “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” . This programme is organized under State Nodal Agency of Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, Chandigarh. The theme of 5th day of National Science Week celebrations was “Science and Technology Film, Theatre and Literature Festival”. The main attractions of the day were Sci-verse-Poetry and Story Writing competition; Sci-Srijan- Choreography Competition; Nukkad Natak , Book Fair, Film Show, Innovation Gallery, Poster Exhibition and Science Fair. 
5th day of this festival started with lighting of lamp followed by formal welcome of guests of the day Dr. Jyoti, Principal, Santoor International Public School, Madhopur, Phagwara, Dr. Vijay, Principal, Shaurya International School, Balachaur and judges of the various competitions by Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, Mrs. Meenakshi Syal, Convener, Dr. Neelam Sharma, Dr. Seema Marwaha and Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Coordinators of the event.  
On this occasion Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen said that the purpose of this event is to provide platform to students to showcase their scientific capabilities and talent. This science fair helped in communication, popularization and extension of  Science and Technology. She also appreciated the “Nukkad Natak” presented by students of HMV Collegiate School, HMV and Sai Dass A.S. Senior Sec. School, Jalandhar based on the theme of sustainable development, life of mathematician Indian Srinivasa Ramanujan and energy conservation respectively.  Dr. K. Vijay Raghvan, Principal Scientific Advisor Government of India was the Keynote Speaker in the first session. Punjab State Council for Science and Technology organized inaugural lecture of 5th Hargobind Khurana to appreciate the contribution made by the scientists of the Punjab in the field of Science and Technology. Nukkad Natak presented by HMV students was directed by Mrs. Veena Arora & written by Mr. Davinder Gill. The Nukkad Natak of HMV Collegiate School was written and directed by Ms. Sukriti, Ms. Richa and Ms. Arvinder. After this two documentary movies entitled “The Dreaded Needle” and “Mega Science Projects: India’s contribution” screened. Ms. Sakshi Luthra, St. Joseph’s Convent School, Jalandhar and Mrs. Sonia Sharma, Shiv Jyoti Public School, Jalandhar judged the “Sci-verse-Poetry” Competition based on the theme of “Science in daily life”. While Dr. Kanish Kapoor, National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar and Mrs. Ritu Bajaj, HMV, Jalandhar judged the “Sci- Srijan-Story writing” competition based on the theme of human extinction.  “Sci-Srijan- Choreography” competition was judged by Mrs. Navroop, Head PG Department of Punjabi, HMV, Jalandhar and Dr. Pooja Manhas, Department of Dance, HMV, Jalandhar. More than 80 students participated in these competitions.   The team of Science Department of HMV stood 1st, SSM College, Dinanagar stood 2nd and Maths Department of HMV stood 3rd.  Gurleen Kaur Channa and Palak  got 1st prize, Janvi got 2nd prize and Ishita stand 3rd in poetry competition.  Bhavya, Manu Bhardwaj and Yuraj Singh Walia stand 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in story writing competition. Inspite of the rainy day more than 400 students from different school visited the college campus and learned various aspects of science and technology by experiential learning. Students visited the various stalls set by Science departments, Department of Commerce and Computer Science where they learnt basics of bioinformatics, botany, zoology, biotechnology, chemistry, computer and mathematical theorems. Students got tested their aptitude by psychometric analysis conducted by Psychology department. Students were also fascinated to see such a huge variety of books displayed in book fair based on different subjects.  Dr. Shaveta Chauhan was incharge of the day. 
On this occasion, all the heads of departments were present. Stage was conducted by Dr. Anjana Bhatia.
