Ludhiana, April 10, 2017: The monthly training camp of PAU Kisan Club was held at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in which more than 400 farmers and 80 rural women participated.
Dr T.S.Riar, Coordinator of the club, highlighted the activities of PAU Kisan Club. He told the University subject-matter specialists educated the farmers about the cultivation of summer moong and mash, use of laser land leveler, vegetable kitchen garden, cultivation and management of fruit plants for home consumption, fodder cultivation and silage making, post-harvest handling of garlic and onion.
Dr Rupinder Kaur, Coordinator of women’s wing of the club, said the rural women were informed about seasonal nutritious recipes and home management activities.
The resource persons included Dr Guriqbal Singh, an expert of pulses; Dr Gursahib Singh, farm machinery expert; Dr J.S. Brar, fruit science expert; Dr U.S. Tiwana and Dr Meenakshi Goyal, experts of fodder; Dr Mahesh Kumar, an expert from Punjab Horticultural Postharvest Technology Centre and Dr S.S. Hundal from State Department of Horticulture.
Earlier, Amrinder Singh Poonia, Secretary of the club, welcomed the resource persons and the farmers. Later, Manpreet Singh, President of the club, proposed the vote of thanks.
