Mohandai Oswal Hospital celebrates “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”

Ludhiana, October 19, 2021: Mohandai Oswal Hospital, Ludhiana celebrated “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”,   to raise awareness and reduce the breast cancer risk.  In this event breast cancer survivors participated and also shared their journey and experience right from the diagnosis till treatment. 

On this Occasion, Minakshi Sharma, Deputy Director, Panjab Government, Department of District Bureau of Employment & Enterprises was chief guest.

Dr Nishant Batta Consultant- Surgical Oncologist at Mohandai Oswal Hospital said that the number of breast cancer cases have been rising at an alarming rate across the globe and is known to be one of the most common cancers among women. Early and adequate diagnosis can lead to effective treatment, resulting in a good chance to cure breast cancer. Annual mammography screening above 40 years of age is recommended and is currently the best available method to detect breast cancer. About 90% of patients survive after diagnosis when breast cancer is detected at the early stage. Thus it is important for women to do self breast examination regularly and consult doctor if changes are noticed. One should also educate young females about breast cancer

Some common symptoms of breast cancer are painless lump in the breast or armpit, change in breast shape, dimpling in the breast skin, abnormal nipple discharge and nipple retraction or ulceration.
