Dehradun, April 14 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd during a roadshow in Dehradun on Tuesday, following his arrival in Uttarakhand to inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor.

Large numbers of people gathered along the sides of the road, chanting phrases such as "Modiji aapka swagat hai," "Bharat Mata Ki Jai," and "Modi, Modi," while waving the Tricolour and the BJP flag.

Dressed in traditional attire from Uttarakhand, women and children also lined the route to greet the Prime Minister as his convoy passed by the excited crowd.

Earlier, PM Modi offered prayers at the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple in Dehradun. During his visit, he was welcomed by children dressed in traditional attire who performed the Durga Devi Stotram. He also interacted with other devotees present at the temple.

The Prime Minister also reviewed the Wildlife corridor on the elevated section of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur.

During this, Union Highways and Transportation Minister Nitin Gadkari, UP Governor Anandiben Patel, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Deputy CMs Keshav Pradad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak were also present.

An exhibition showcasing the construction procedure of the wildlife corridor was presented, and the officials briefed the Prime Minister about the project.

PM Modi also held a roadshow along the Wildlife Corridor in Saharanpur.

A large crowd gathered along the road to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister as he waved back at them.

Many attendees wore costumes and performed traditional folk dances to welcome the Prime Minister.

Later, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor at a public function in Dehradun and address the gathering on the occasion.

The 213 km long six-lane access-controlled Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor has been developed at a cost of over Rs 12,000 crore.

The corridor traverses through the states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and will reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours at present to around two and a half hours.
