MLA Prashar, Senior Dy Mayor and MC Chief inspect ongoing project to cover Dharampura nullah; directions issued to expedite work
Making monsoon preparations in advance, Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi, Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal inspected the ongoing project to cover Dharampura nullah on Thursday.

Ludhiana, May 8, 2025: Making monsoon preparations in advance, Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi, Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal inspected the ongoing project to cover Dharampura nullah on Thursday.
The civic body has got the project designed from the experts of IIT Roorkee and around 250 meter of the nullah stretch (from Shingar cinema road till Gaughat cremation ground) has to be covered under the project. Retaining walls and concrete base of the nullah would also be constructed under the project which is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 9.50 crore.
Further the officials have also been directed to expedite the work of establishing a flood gate at 'Buddha Dariya' point to avoid water logging in Dhokka Mohalla, Dharampura and adjoining areas during monsoon season.
The concerned officials of civic body, sewerage board, Ajay Nayyar Tanki among others were als present during the inspection.
The officials have also been directed to ensure proper cleaning (desilting) of nullah before the monsoon season.
MLA Ashok Prashar and Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar said that the residents have been raising the demand to cover Dharampura nullah for a long time, but the previous governments failed to address the issue. He stated that this project will not only give a cleaner look to the area, but will also help in streamlining the movement of traffic.
Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government is working to develop quality infrastructure across the state and in that course, a large number of development projects are being taken up in Ludhiana Central constituency, said MLA Prashar.
