MLA Gogi inaugurates project to establish 40-KLD nature based waste water treatment plant in Leisure Valley

In a first of its kind initiative taken to reuse treated sewer water for irrigation purposes, Ludhiana West MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Sandeep Rishi inaugurated the project to establish 40-KLD nature based waste water treatment plant in Leisure valley situated near MC Zone D office on Friday.

Ludhiana, March 15, 2024: In a first of its kind initiative taken to reuse treated sewer water for irrigation purposes, Ludhiana West MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi and Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Sandeep Rishi inaugurated the project to establish 40-KLD nature based waste water treatment plant in Leisure valley situated near MC Zone D office on Friday. 

The project is a joint initiative of Municipal Corporation Ludhiana and Kotak Mohindra Bank Ltd and the plant is now being established by the bank as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity.

An underground Decentralized WasteWater Treatment System (DEWATS) would be established under the project to treat the sewer water and the treated water would be used for gardening purposes in Sidhwan Canal Waterfront project, Leisure Valley among other nearby parks. After establishment of the plant, the bank will also take up maintenance of the project for two years.

The representatives of Kotak Mohindra Bank were also present during the inauguration ceremony. 

MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi said that the focus of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is upon sustainable development. A number of green belts/parks have also been established in the West constituency with focus on spreading green cover.

MLA Gogi also appreciated Kotak Mohindra Bank for taking up the project under CSR activity. 

MLA Gogi and MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi further appealed the corporate houses to step forward and take up maintenance of parks and green belts in their surroundings.
