MLA dedicates three developmental projects worth Rs 24.01 lakh in Dhandra on 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi 

Ludhiana, October 2, 2021: To commemorate the 152nd birth anniversary of the father of the nation- Mahatma Gandhi in a big way, MLA Gill Kuldeep Singh Vaid on Saturday dedicated three development projects worth Rs 24.01 lakh in Dhandra village of the district. 

The projects include Solid Waste Management of Rs 6.40 lakh, Library of Rs 5 lakh, Neki Da Ghar at Rs 12.61 lakh were started today by Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Amit Kumar Panchal and Assistant Commissioner Dr Harjinder Singh Bedi. 

Addressing the people, MLA accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Amit Kumar Panchal, Assistant Commissioner Dr Harjinder Singh Bedi, said that under the Solid Waste Management project, compost manure would be prepared from biodegradable solid waste being collected by segregation from 21 in villages under Dhandra Cluster and the same would be used by the farmers in the fields besides would also sold into the market. 

He said that the project would help to ensure proper cleanliness in the village by turning the waste into manure. 
Under the Neki Da Ghar project, he said that the volunteers of Self Help Groups would prepare reusable cloth carry bag (thaila) from the clothes which would be donated by people in Neki Da Ghar to end the menace of single-use plastic carry bags.

Further, MLA told that the cloth bags would be distributed free of cost among the people in the market so that more and more people adopt cloth carry bags by turning the drive against single-use plastic as a mass campaign.

Vaid said that the library would help to inculcate the reading habit among the people especially school and college students belonging to the village. 

He said that the library would ensure the overall development of the students through vast knowledge attained from books.

He said the life, philosophy and sacrifice of Mahatma Gandhi would act as a lighthouse and continue to inspire us all for rendering selfless service to the community, society, state and the country. 

He said that every one of us especially the youth must come forward for perpetuating the life and philosophy of the father of the nation by imbibing the ethos of non-violence, harmony and cleanliness in our lives.

He said that no stone would be left unturned to usher in an era of unprecedented growth and development in every nook and corner especially the rural areas.
