Mission Swasth Kavach spreads awareness against silent killer – Hypertension

Ludhiana, May 16, 2026: On the occasion of World Hypertension Day, a BP Monitoring Camp was organized under the banner of Mission Swasth Kavach at Senior Citizens Welfare Association Ludhiana.
The camp served as a unique platform where the youngest citizens of society interacted with its most experienced and respected senior citizens, delivering a powerful message of health awareness, intergenerational bonding, and social responsibility.
The event was organized by district administration in collaboration with Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.
Students trained under Mission Swasth Kavach actively participated in the camp and demonstrated the correct method of Blood Pressure monitoring to senior citizens. The students also educated attendees about the harmful effects of hypertension and emphasized the importance of regular BP monitoring, healthy lifestyle habits, and timely medical consultation.
The doctors from Dayanand Medical College and Hospital sensitized the audience about hypertension, often referred to as the “Silent Killer,” due to its ability to quietly damage health without noticeable symptoms. The doctors explained the causes, risks, preventive measures, and management of high blood pressure in a simple and impactful manner.
A special highlight of the camp was the live demonstration of CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) by students, showcasing how immediate emergency response can help save lives during cardiac emergencies. The young volunteers confidently explained the step-by-step CPR process and encouraged citizens to learn basic life-saving skills.
Chairman of Senior Citizens Welfare Association Er. Balbir Singh (Veteran) appreciated the initiative and stated that such awareness activities and emergency life-saving procedure training programmes should be organized regularly for the betterment of society and to strengthen intergenerational bonding.
