Minister YAS, Kiren Rijiju (MoS) reviewed ground efforts of NSS volunteers

Chandigarh: A national level interaction took place today on COVID-19 addressed by  Minister Shri Kiren Rijiju (MoS), Ministry of YAS G.O.I. with 35 NSS Volunteers who represented their respective State/UT. In this online review meeting, NSS volunteers briefed Hon'ble Minister  ground action plan undertaken by respective State NSS Cells.
 
Ms Ritika Verma, NSS Volunteer from Department of Anthropology, Panjab University represented UT Chandigarh for her ground efforts on awareness campaign since March. In her interaction with minister, she highlighted the Donation campaign of NSS Regional Directorate & State NSS Cell and selfless efforts of NSS volunteers and Programme Officers & Faculty under the guidance of NSS Programme Coordinator Dr Navdeep Sharma for adopting 200 labourers since March 22 till date.
 
 NSS Volunteers are stitching masks at their respective homes for distribution to needy ones, distributing Sanitary pads, blood donation at hospitals along with digital awareness by Collage messages/Videos on social media under 'covid mukt abhiyan' led by State NSS Awardee Binesh Bhatia of Panjab University. He is closely working with State NSS Cell and Regional Directorate for ministry reporting. She also briefed the remarkable efforts of SNO for being appointed as a "Special Incident Commander" for Bapu Dham contaminated zone by Chandigarh Administration.
 
Minister congratulated Volunteers for outstanding teamwork and selfless efforts in this peculiar situation even with minimum available resources during lockdown. Minister also thanked NSS official authorities working at State and District level and also motivated NSS volunteers. In the end, NSS Volunteers thanked Hon'ble Minister to join them online and promised to keep the good work alive for the greater cause of community service!
